SG Gibson Guitars

How much is a 1986 Gibson SG (electric guitar) worth?
I have a 1986 Gibson SG. I got it several years ago and i always wondered how much it is worth. Any have a good idea where i can find the info?
Look on e-Bay and see what they're going for. That's a good place to get an idea of it's worth. If it's good shape it should be worth a couple grand anyway. Maybe more depending on the model. Have a good one.

Gibson SG Standard 4-String Bass Canary Yellow Satin Chrome Hardware $999.99 The Gibson SG Reissue Bass brings back Gibson's classic dual-pickup SG bass from the '70s! The reissue bass has the 30-1/2" short scale of the original, as well as its slim, fast neck. Mahogany body and neck. The Gibson SG Reissue Bass features a vintage-style TB neck humbucker pickup and a mini-humbucker at the bridge for wide tonal range. Gibson includes a hardshell case with the reissue SG Standard Bass.3-Way Adjustable Bridge Gibson's innovative 3-way adjustable bridge is the standard for simplicity and functionality. It provides you with the ability to adjust and fine-tune the height of the SG Standard Bass' strings in all directions—front, back, and side-to-side. This gives the bridge a floating feature, thus allowing the bass to be equipped with a variety of string gauges and multiple set-up options. The SG Reissue bass's legendary resonance, tone, and sustain is the result of anchoring the bridge directly into the body at its 3 adjustable points, providing a firm seating for the strings and yielding a strong union between the strings and the body. Readily accessible screws make setting the intonation simple. To this day, Gibson's 3-way adjustable bridge remains an industry standard. It is the epitome of form and function in bass guitar bridge design.Set-Neck Construction Like all classic Gibson guitars, the necks on the SG Standard Basses are distinguished by one of the more traditional features that have always set them apart—a glued neck joint. Gluing the neck to the body of the guitar insures a "wood-to-wood" contact, no air space in the neck cavity, and maximum contact between the neck and body, allowing the neck and body to function as a single unit. The result? Better tone, better sustain, and no loose or misaligned necks.Vintage-Style TB and TB Mini Humbuckers The pickups on the early Gibson basses of the 1960s remained unchanged for many years, undergoing only minor cosmetic modifications from time to time, but staying true to the originals' sonic characteristics. The pickups in today's SG Standard Bass—the vintage-style TB Plus humbucker and TB mini humbucker—are wax-potted and capture and recreate the classic attributes of those early Gibson basses. The TB plus humbucker in the neck is a traditional hum-cancelling bass pickup with a full frequency, heavy-bottom sound, similar to pickups with a passive EQ. The EB mini humbucker in the bridge is traditionally smaller but packs a sweet punch with exceptional mid-range presence. This combination makes the SG Standard Bass a versatile instrument with a wide range of tonal possibilities.20-Fret Rosewood Fingerboard Rosewood has always graced the fingerboards of the world's finest stringed instruments, including many of today's Gibson guitars and basses. The fingerboard on the Gibson SG Standard Bass is constructed from the highest grade rosewood on the planet. The rosewood is personally inspected and qualif |

Gibson SG Special Electric Guitar Satin Ebony¹ $799 Hands down, the Gibson SG Special Satin Ebony electric guitar is the best combination of features and value in Gibson's iconic SG line-up. You still get the dynamic, slim mahogany body and hair-trigger quick neck that have made the SG a workhorse guitar, yet without all the non-essentials. The ultra-affordable price tag on this electric guitar is owed to fewer coats of finish than can be found on the traditional SG Standard and SG Special. This stripped-down finishing process means that not only will you enjoy more resonance, but you'll be the proud owner of an SG that looks straight out of the '60s. The Gibson SG Special is uncivilized. It's fierce. And it's got to hang in your guitar rack.Solid Mahogany Body Probably the most central of all the SG Special's features is its solid mahogany body—lightweight, strong, with a thick, warm tone. The mahogany goes through the same rigorous selection process as all of Gibson's woods, and is personally inspected and qualified by Gibson's team of skilled wood experts before it enters the Gibson factories. Inside the Gibson factories, humidity is maintained at 45 percent, and the temperature at 70 degrees. This ensures all woods are dried to a level of equilibrium, where the moisture content does not change during the manufacturing process. This guarantees tight-fitting joints and no expansion, in addition to reducing the weight. It also helps with improving the woods' machinability and finishing properties. Consistent moisture content means that a Gibson guitar will respond evenly to temperature and humidity changes long after it leaves the factory.'50s Rounded Neck Profile No guitar neck profiles are more distinguishable than the neck profiles employed on the Gibson models of today. The guitar's more traditional '50s neck profile on the SG Special is the thicker, rounder profile, emulating the neck shapes found on the iconic 1958 and 1959 Les Paul Standards. The neck is machined in Gibson's rough mill using wood shapers to make the initial cuts. But once the fingerboard gets glued on, the rest—including the final sanding—is done by hand. That means there are no two necks with the exact same dimensions. So while the Gibson SG Special guitar still has the basic characteristics of its respective profile, each neck will be slightly different, with a distinct but traditional feel.Dot Inlays Over the years, the classic dot inlay has been one of the more traditional features of many Gibson guitars, including the SG. A figured, swirl acrylic gives these inlays that distinguished pearl look. They are inserted into the fingerboard using a process that eliminates gaps and doesn't require the use of fillers.Gibson's 490 (R) Rhythm and (T) Treble Pickup The mid to late 1960s saw the emergence of a very different type of music coming from the clubs of England. It was an interpretation of the blues that hadn't been heard before, an |

Solid Mahogany Body Probably the most central of all Gibson SG features is its solid mahogany body. This ensures all woods are dried to a level of equilibrium, where the moisture content does not change during the manufacturing process. Gibson Custom Robbie Krieger SG VOSÿElectric Guitar Aged Dark Heritage Cherry $3399 The Robby Krieger 1967 SG VOS (Vintage Original Specs) Electric Guitar from Gibson Custom blends several features from some of Krieger's favorite SG's into one stunning new model. Made of traditional solid mahogany, the body of the Krieger SG is typical of the thin SG bodies from the mid 1960s, complete with traditional beveled edges and the distinct dual sharp cutaway horns that give players complete access to the guitar's full 22-fret rosewood fingerboard. The body is then finished in Krieger's personal favorite Aged Dark Heritage Cherry finish, which is very similar to the finish of his beloved 1967 SG Standard, and historically accurate right down to the tiniest scratches, dings and belt rash. The neck is also a typical SG one-piece mahogany neck, but with a hybrid neck profile modeled after the neck on a 1961 Gibson SG owned by a close friend and the neck on his personal '67 SG Standard. In order to duplicate his signature sound Krieger chose a pair of Gibson's renowned '57 Classic humbucker pickups. Gibson's original "Patent Applied For" humbuckers of the mid- to late-1950s &mdash: some of the most sought after pickups in the world &mdash: were wound using imprecise machines, resulting in pickups with slightly different output and tone, and desirable to players who wanted to mix and match and explore a complete spectrum of tonal possibilities. The '57 Classic pickups are the result of Gibson's drive to capture and recreate this renowned characteristic. Krieger's signature sound comes through clearly in a warm, full tone with a balanced response, packing all the tremendous "PAF" humbucker crunch expected from a Gibson humbucker. Everything else on the new Inspired By Krieger SG is classic Gibson SG Standard, including the ABR-1 Bridge and Maestro tailpiece tremolo system, nickel hardware, 22-fret rosewood fingerboard with figured acrylic trapezoid inlays, and vintage tulip tuners. The new Inspired By Robby Krieger SG Standard is destined to become of the most popular SGs ever produced by Gibson Custom, Gibson VOS guitars receive a nitrocellulose lacquer finish like many other Gibson Custom Shop and Gibson USA guitars, but the process on the VOS models has been revised to reflect the way Gibson finished these guitars back in the day. They receive a thinner lacquer finish, which is applied, sanded, and buffed differently— which is to say, more accurately. This not only gives the instruments a look more like a gently aged and well-cared-for vintage guitar, but helps the guitars "breathe," and therefore to resonate more freely. The Robby Krieger 1967 SG VOS will only be produced in a very limited run of 100 with Gibson Custom's V.O.S. finish treatment. Each guitar will come with its own Gibson Custom case and a certificate of authenticity signed personally by Krieger. |

Gibson Angus Young SG Electric Guitar Ebony $2309 Classic rock doesn't get much bigger than AC/DC, and no one wails out massive, bone-crunching tone like Angus Young on his Gibson SG electric guitar. Young's incendiary tone has inspired wave after wave of rock guitar heroes, and turned on countless players to the power of his seminal guitar of choice, the Gibson SG. Now the Gibson USA Angus Young guitar, brings all the tone and playability of this classic double-cutaway made to Angus Young's own specs within reach of the hardworking rock guitarist, giving you all the punch, crunch, and sizzle that Angus achieves with his own treasured Gibson guitar.
