Guitar Effects: Software vs hardware?
I am a beginner (<2 years) and am interested in getting electric guitar effects to supplement my mediocre playing ability (ha ha). I see that there are hardware units and software programs. I would like to hear from others pros/cons and model recommendations. For starters I was looking at a Digitech unit - has 40 preset sounds, 40 artist-specific sounds, and 40 user programmable sounds and its only $50. I have a hollow body Ibanez electric. Thoughts, suggestions?
software would be a pain to get hooked up.
I would definately go for the hardware. Then if you decide to use a computer you can. If you decide to use headphones alone, you can. If you want to take that right to the amp you can.
Unless you are running a clean line into a pc to record, go for hardware. If you are only llooking to record 1 line into a computer, you will be using what is called VST, or Direct X sound FX. They can be great, and flexable. But not portable one bit.
