Will an acoustic guitar with an acoustic pickup sound the same on a normal amp as on an acoustic amp?

I'm thinking about buying an acoustic pickup for my acoustic guitar, but i can't afford to buy an acoustic amp as well, will i be alright running it through my normal amp or will the quality suffer?

It will sound just fine - assuming you do not use any effects - but an acoustic amp will sound a little better. Not to worry.
