Gibson Les Paul Goldtop
Gibson Les Paul Goldtop

Cheapest Les Paul Electric Guitar?
What is the cheapest Les Paul made by Epiphone or Gibson beside the Epiphone LP Special II? I want a cheap les paul but I hear the epiphone LP special II sucks and has terrible tuners. No foreign or brand knockoffs, just the real epiphone or gibson. Thanks.
PS- Does anyone know how much the new epiphone Slash Les Paul Goldtop costs?
Yeah but gibson is too expensive for me
Another question for anyone: Whats the difference between Epiphone Les Paul 100 and Epiphone les paul studio?
Les Paul studios are more for studio work-they are very heavy. LP-100's are more stage guitars. the 100 is basicly a Special II, but with fancier stuff on it, like a mustang and a mustang GT. With Gibson, you are just paying for the name, anyways. If you want a truly cheap Les Paul, get the Epi Les Paul JR. The Slash signature runs for around $1000. Look into a Samick Greg Bennett Avion. They are not cheap knock-off Les Pauls. Greg Bennett was a Gibson Les Paul designer for 30 years. Go to a guitar dealer and try one.

Gibson Custom 1954 Chambered Les Paul Goldtop VOS Antique Gold $3899 Like all VOS (Vintage Original Spec) series instruments, the 1954 Chambered Les Paul Goldtop VOS guitar is handcrafted for comfort and playability in the Gibson Custom Shop. The construction, neck profile, hardware, and electronics are period accurate, and a special nitro-cellulose finish treatment gives it the patina of a gently-aged vintage guitar. The body isn't chambered just for weight relief, although your back and shoulder will definitely appreciate it. Gibson uses a computer numeric controlled router to carve out carefully mapped areas that result in louder, more resonant guitars with increased sustain. The chambering is done before the maple top is put on, so there is no change in the guitar's rock solid appearance.Includes Gibson Custom Shop case, a certificate of authenticity, and custom care kit. |

Gibson Custom Hot-Mod 1955 Les Paul Goldtop Wraptail Electric Guitar Antique Gold $3999 The hot-mod angle on the Gibson Custom Hot-Mod 1955 Les Paul Goldtop electric guitar is based on the idea of a 1955 Les Paul Goldtop with one-piece wraptail that was later modified with humbucker pickups (introduced by Gibson in 1957). The combination of maple-topped mahogany body and humbuckers with a wraparound bridge delivers a glorious monster tone that introduces a comfortable and resonant neck profile.BurstBucker humbuckers The BurstBucker 1 neck humbucker replicates the sounds from Gibson's original "Patent Applied For" pickups, are slightly underwound, with medium "vintage" output. The BurstBucker 2 is a humbucking pickup wound in the range of Gibson's '57 Classic for replica sound. Unpolished magnets and non-potted coils, just like the original. Slightly hotter than the BurstBucker 1, the 2 works well in the bridge position with a BurstBucker 1 pickup in the neck position. Soft Shoulder '55 Neck Profile The Soft Shoulder '55 neck profile makes the Gibson Custom Les Paul sit in your hand like no other guitar neck. Gibson's guitar team chose a '55 Les Paul that had a neck with a "magical feel" to serve as a guitar for the Soft Shoulder '55 neck. The depth is the same from the top of the fretboard to the back of the neck as the rounded ''50s neck, yet has gently sloping sides that sit comfortably in your hand. TonePros "Wraptail" Bridge/Tailpiece The TonePros "Wraptail" vintage-style one-piece wraparound bridge/tailpiece has locking steel studs mounted into long steel anchors for superior tone transference. A classic piece of hardware, the wraparound bridge/tailpiece on the 1955 Gibson Les Paul offers a simplicity and functionality that is hard to match. It provides a firm seating for the strings, allowing the player to adjust intonation and string height as needed. This yields an incredible union between the strings and body, resulting in excellent tone and sustain.Year of 1955 Innovation 1955 was a year of great innovation in all areas of American life. 1955 saw the dawn of the United States space program. The first of the classic V8 Chevrolets hit dealerships all over the country, reflecting the spirit of change that was in the air. And don't forget there was Rock and Roll! Jukeboxes were blasting music by Bill Haley, Chuck Berry, a kid named Elvis, and his guitar player Scotty Moore. Something was afoot. The archetypical tones of this music had already been forged in the Gibson Guitar Factory. There, in 1955, the future sonic masterpiece known as the humbucking pickup was being prototyped. All the ingredients necessary to create the soundtrack of the next quarter century and beyond existed within that building. |

Gibson Custom Refin Hot-Mod 1955 Les Paul Tune-O-Matic Electric Guitar Heritage Cherry Sunburst $3999 In the mid-50s, a sunburst finish was not an available option on a Gibson Les Paul. In 1958, Goldtops were phased out and a cherry sunburst became the standard finish. Sunburst finishes became all the rage with some really popular artists such as Clapton and Bloomfield using late-50s 'Bursts. The single-cutaway Les Paul guitars were discontinued in '60-'61 and were not reintroduced for several years. Once in a while, however, a heavily modified Gibson guitar is used to make such groundbreaking music that the erstwhile "one-off" becomes iconic in and of itself. The best known and most revered of these is arguably Jeff Beck's Oxblood Les Paul guitar. The Gibson Jeff Beck Oxblood 1954 Guitar is available in very limited numbers. The first 50 of these historic electric guitars will be carefully aged by the master luthiers at Gibson Custom to look exactly like Beck's original, then personally hand-signed, numbered and played by Beck himself. It includes a specially produced Gibson Custom case with Beck's signature silkscreened on the top and a certificate of authenticity.History British guitarist Jeff Beck made a big name for himself right from the start. After stepping into very big shoes in The Yardbirds as Eric Clapton's replacement, he left to form The Jeff Beck Group with Ron Wood and Rod Stewart in 1967, all before the age of 25. Moving into the 1970s, Beck began forging his reputation as a solo artist—and one of the hottest guitarists of his generation—with a Gibson Les Paul as his leading guitar of choice. And like so many legendary guitars, the Gibson Les Paul in question made its way into Beck's hands not through an endorsement deal, or a gift from the manufacturer, but through the lucky happenstance of some downtime being killed with a little browsing at a local music shop. While recording in Memphis, Beck paid a visit to the popular Strings and Things guitar store to check out the stock. Beck's attention was immediately drawn to a 1954 Gibson Les Paul (occasionally reported to be an early 1955 model), which was to receive some very specific modifications.Body The first request was to replace the guitar's original Goldtop finish with a deep chocolate-brown color that turned out to exhibit some oxblood tints in certain light. Other mods to this Gibson Custom Les Paul included the installation of full-size humbucking pickups in place of the original P-90s, altering the full and rounded early '50s neck shape to a slightly thinner profile, and swapping the original tuners for modern replacements. Legend has it that the customer didn't like the results… but Jeff Beck did. He purchased the modified Les Paul from Strings and Things and played it extensively on the road and in the studio. It would go on to be etched into the minds of millions as Beck's guitar as seen on his mil |

Gibson Custom 1955 Refin Les Paul Wraptail Electric Guitar Atlanta Burst $4123 Underappreciated during its original run from 1958-'60, the Les Paul Standard with sunburst finish caught fire from the mid '60s to the early '70s, when players like Eric Clapton, Michael Bloomfield, Jimmy Page and Paul Kossoff carried it to the heights of wailing virtuosity. As the original item became more and more expensive and harder to come by, players in search of the 'Burst look began modifying the more plentiful 1952-'56 Les Paul Goldtops. When done right—this meant sending the guitar back to Gibson for a full factory refinish. The Custom Shop "Refin" 1955 Les Paul Wraptail embodies just such a modification done perfectly, and it even exhibits the only obvious tell-tale sign of such alterations: the slightly off-center seam in the two-piece maple top, which would originally have been hidden beneath an opaque goldtop finish. The original '55 Les Paul embodied the guitar as co-designers Les Paul and Ted McCarty had envisioned it: the most playable, toneful solid body electric guitar available to the professional musician. Looking toward the future, its solid mahogany back and maple top addressed rockers' needs for tonal depths, clarity, sustain, and richness while squelching the feedback that was problematic for hollow body electrics. Benefiting from the past, its carved-arched top, perfectly back-angled set neck with long-tenon joint, and bound body and fingerboard offered elements of longstanding Gibson tradition and quality that discerning players were still demanding in their instruments. The 1955 "Refin" Les Paul Wraptail begins with the template of a 1955 Les Paul with solid one-piece lightweight mahogany back and carved maple top, adds the "Refin" element of rich nitrocellulose Atlanta burst finish, while retaining its early '55 "wraptail" bridge, represented by a TonePros wraparound bridge with locking studs and long steel anchors. This is an extremely efficient resonant coupling between strings and body and helps thicken and warm up the overall tonal brew. This beauty also retains Gibson's legendary P-90 pickups that present more meat and midrange aggression than thinner single-coil pickups, yet have plenty of high-end clarity with a slightly grainy edge that really helps cut through the mix.To give all this tone the most playable spin possible, the Refin 1955 Les Paul Wraptail is fitted with a quarter-sawn mahogany neck that features Gibson Custom's"Soft Shoulder" '55 profile, created after intensive study of an original '55 Les Paul with a "magical feeling" neck. With a similar front-to-back depth as standard rounded mid-'50s necks, it differs in its gently sloping sides, a feature that makes it sit incredibly comfortably in the hand. Comes with a Gibson Custom hardshell case and a "Year of 1955 Innovation" certificate. |

Gibson Custom Refin Hot-Mod 1955 Les Paul Tune-O-Matic Electric Guitar Golden Orange Tea Burst $3999 In the mid-50s, a sunburst finish was not an available option on a Gibson Les Paul. Many players started stripping the gold off the top of their early-mid-'50s Gibson Les Paul guitars and having them refinished to emulate the desirable Sunburst Les Pauls. The Gibson Custom Refin features a beautiful heritage cherry sunburst top and even has an offset center seam to emulate the originals. The Gibson Refin Hot-Mod Les Paul also introduces a comfortable and resonant neck shape, the Soft Shoulder '55 Neck Profile. The hot-mod slant on the Gibson Custom Hot-Mod 1955 Les Paul Goldtop Electric Guitar originates from a custom-ordered 1955 Les Paul that was later modified with humbucker pickups (introduced by Gibson in 1957). The classic combination of maple-topped mahogany body with ABR-1 Tune-O-Matic bridge and humbuckers delivers a glorious monster tone that introduces a comfortable and resonant neck profile.BurstBucker humbuckers The BurstBucker 1 neck humbucker on the 1955 Gibson Custom Les Paul replicates the sounds from Gibson's original "Patent Applied For" pickups, are slightly underwound, with medium "vintage" output. Soft Shoulder '55 Neck Profile The Soft Shoulder '55 neck profile makes the Gibson Les Paul Refin Hot-Mod sit in your hand like no other guitar neck. Gibson's guitar team chose a '55 Les Paul that had a neck with a "magical feel" to serve as a model for the Soft Shoulder '55 neck. The depth is the same from the top of the fretboard to the back of the neck as the rounded '50s neck, yet has gently sloping sides that sit comfortably in your hand. ABR-1 Tune-O-Matic Bridge and Stopbar Tailpiece The ABR-1 Tune-O-Matic bridge was the brainchild of acclaimed Gibson president Ted McCarty in 1954, setting a standard for simplicity and functionality that has never been bettered. On the Gibson Refin Hot-Mod Les Paul, the ABR-1 Tune-O-Matic is slotted directly into the body of the guitar using a separate stud and thumbwheel, providing a firm seating for the strings and allowing players the ability to adjust and fine tune intonation and string height in a matter of minutes. And held in place with TonePros long steel anchors and long locking studs, the stopbar tailpiece yields a great union between the strings and body, which results in excellent vintage |
