Flatwound Strings Guitar
Should I put flatwound strings on my ES125 Gibson acoustic guitar?
I'm restringing a gibson from 1959 and I was wondering if the flatwound strings are a better deal sound and feel wise. I hear they sound "deader" but i don't know what that means when it comes to acoustic.... any ideas on what i should do?

I have a 1952 E-125. It had acoustic strings on it when I bought it, and I have restrung it with both round and flat wound electric strings. It really depends on the style of music you are wanting to play. The Flat Wound Strings are far better for jazz music, but otherwise, I would put round wound strings on. My guitar sounds way better as an electric guitar, as opposed to acoustic. I did actually put acoustic strings on it again today, and I think I will change them again for a set of heavier gage electric strings. Hope this is helpful.
