Fender Jazz Bass V.S. Squier by fender Jazz Bass?
I've noticed that the squier jazz basses are less expensive then the fender jazz basses. Why. How are they different?
The best ones are the America Fenders
MOST of the Japanese Fenders are a VERY close second
You'll notice these are close to the Fenders in price too,
actually very nice guitars.
Mexican Fenders are the decent mid price ones.
The Chinese ones are the ones I don't like at all, just not any where close in quality, but decent for $200 I guess.
For $200, I prefer some of the low end Yamahas, actually.
The difference in the lower priced ones, is the quality of the craftsmanship, quality of the woods, how the woods are cured, and how long they are cured.
Cheaper pickups, hardware, electronics etc.

Fender Custom Shop 1960s Jazz Bass Heavy Relic Olympic White over 3-Tone Sunburst $4856.04 The Fender Custom Shop Jazz Bass (or J Bass) was the second bass guitar created by Leo Fender. The bass is distinct from the Precision Bass in that its tone is brighter and richer in the midrange with less emphasis on the fundamental harmonic. Because of this, many bass players who want to be more "forward" in the mix prefer the Jazz Bass.First introduced in 1960, the Fender Jazz Bass featured a redesigned neck—narrower and more rounded than that of the Precision Bass. The J Bass has two single coil pickups with two pole pieces per string. This gave the bass a stronger treble for a "bright" sound. Relic treatment This 1960s Jazz Bass has a relic finish with vintage electronics and other desirable features. The Fender Heavy Relic Jazz Bass has been given Fender Custom Shop's Relic treatment, which shows natural wear and tear of years of heavy use, nicks, scratches, worn finish rusty hardware and aged plastic parts. Fender Custom Shop wants its instruments to feel like they had been played every night for 40 years. In the end, these Relic-treated guitars and basses end up being not a tribute to any famous guitarist, but a tribute to the instrument itself. The Fender bass's thin lacquer finish gives it a worn, and rugged look, while exposing the bottom colors. It shows heavy arm and edge wear, as well as scrapes and dings. The body is composed of a 2-piece ash construction, with a 3-bolt neck design. The vintage chrome plating also has the relic treatment, still giving it shine, but worn to look like the bass has been on the road for years. The chrome bridge, bone nut, medium jumbo frets, and custom Madagascar rosewood fretboard offers lasting sustain and unparalleled clarity. The Fender J-bass U-neck shape and 9.5" radius offers comfort when dancing across the fretboard, and the nickel tuners keep the bass in tune. Other appointments include block inlays, standard chrome bridge, white pearl pickguard, and Relic J-Bass bridge and neck pickups. Since 1987, the Fender Custom Shop has been a "dream factory," producing guitars that are to playing what Ferraris are to driving. The skilled craftsmen in Fender's Corona, Calif., Custom Shop are known worldwide for their artistry in making instruments that range from the fine to the fantastic. Whether it's building a new custom axe from the ground up or modifying an existing one, the Fender Custom Shop excels with the joy they draw on in producing rock 'n' roll works of art. |
