ES 175 Guitar
ES 175 Guitar
Is Epiphone ES-175 strictly for jazz?

I wanna play jazz but I also wanna play Carlos Santana-type of rockish songs and Bossa Nova as well. So basically I want a guitar that can give all of the below:

1) creamy sound
2) acoustic sound
3) rockish sound

Should I opt for the jazzy ES-175 or the more versatile, crossover guitar ES-335? Or is it that which guitar doesn't matter because it's the right amp and setting that matter?

BTW I only intend to play for my own.

If you don't mind uncontrollable feedback for the rock stuff (while he may not use this any longer, "back in the day" the rock frontman Ted Nugent used to accost- I mean, play- a Gibson Byrdland, which is a thinline hollow body guitar; you might consider giving his early solo albums and the Amboy Dukes for a sample of what this might sound like), the ES-175 gets the nod- the hollow body will give you the warmer sound. The ES-335 is a semi-hollow body that has far fewer cubic inches in the "box" part of the guitar (in actuality there are two boxes- one either side of the center block) so it won't feed back, but the acoustic sound quality isn't quite as robust.
Try 'em both to hear this for your own two ears- then trust your ears.

Debuting in 1949 and in continuous production ever since, the Gibson ES-175 is one of the most versatile and famous guitars in music history. The first Gibson electric guitar to feature a Florentine cutaway, the ES-175 was also one of the first electric Spanish guitars to be fitted with its signature P.A.F. ("Patent Applied For") humbuckers, and it is prized for its playability, craftsmanship, and full, rich tone. The list of players who have used the ES-175 guitar's distinctive sound reads like a who's who of historic and contemporary jazz, rock, blues, and fusion, with players such as Joe Pass, Kenny Burrell, Joe Diorio, Toots Thielmans, Wes Montgomery, Pat Martino, Herb Ellis, Howard Roberts, Jimmy Raney, blues great B.B. King, progressive rock musician Steve Howe and fusion pioneer Pat Metheny. Scotty Moore played an ES-295, essentially a dual-P90-equipped, all-gold ES-175 on the Sun Sessions with Elvis Presley. The Gibson 175 book was written by noted author and guitarist Adrian Ingram.

Celemony Melodyne Sound Library Guitar

Celemony Melodyne Sound Library Guitar

$139

Who would not like the sound of legendary electric guitars on his recordings: blues and funk licks on a Fender Strat, rock solos on a Steinberger or elegant jazz lines on a Gibson ES 335, all played via the best amplifiers (Marshall, Mesa Boogie, Vox, Rivera etc.). Or rather something acoustic on a Yamaha APX7? With the Melodyne Sound Library (MSL) guitar you don't get any stiff samples, but a highly flexible collection of excellent guitar sounds for composing, arranging and experimenting. The MSL guitar contains around 1,000 first-class phrases and licks which were specially conceived for use with Celemony's Melodyne technology. They have been recorded in highest musical quality and meticulously optimized for Melodyne—so you can start right away. And if a sample does not fit into your arrangement yet, you can reshape it with Melodyne, adjust tempo and key, vary the timing or create completely different melodies. All samples have been recorded without effects or dynamic processing to leave complete freedom for the further editing process and to satisfy highest demands in professional production environments. When navigating through the samples with Melodyne's Melody Manager, you do not see audio waveforms only, but also the notes of the material. Insert entire recordings, parts thereof or merely individual notes into your arrangements very elegantly using Drag 'n' Drop. If desired, Melodyne makes everything match. Credits The sounds of MSL guitar are identical with those of the Ueberschall Liquid Instrument "Guitar". They were played by Kai Reuter, Dirk Rogon, Johannes Uhlmann and Hanz Marathon, recorded by Uwe Kinast and edited and optimized for Melodyne by Harkan TÜrközÜ and Bassim Aziz-Safi. The guitars involved are Fender Stratocaster with EMG Pickups, Rockinger Strat with EMG, Gibson ES 335 stereo, Yamaha APX7 Acoustic Guitar, Steinberger incl. TransTrem with EMG. Gibson Hummingbird Pro Acoustic-Electric Guitar

Gibson Hummingbird Pro Acoustic-Electric Guitar

$2099.99

A true legend of acoustic instruments, the Gibson Hummingbird Pro acoustic-electric guitar was first introduced in 1960 as Gibson's earliest square-shoulder dreadnought guitar. Superb for all styles of playing, with a capacity for rich, first-position folk chords and intricate solo playing, the Gibson Hummingbird quickly became an iconic acoustic line, and a favorite among legends like Gram Parsons and Keith Richards. The Hummingbird has been one of Gibson Acoustic's most enduring guitar line.Body tonewoods (back, sides and top) The body design of the Gibson Hummingbird Pro acoustic electric guitar is known as a square shoulder dreadnought. The top is made from Sitka spruce, while the back and sides are constructed from mahogany, giving the Hummingbird True Vintage a perfectly balanced midrange tone, with unbiased rich lows and clear treble registers. Selecting the right wood, and the formula to dry it out, are two of the most central procedures to Gibson's guitar-building process.Rosewood fingerboard with traditional binding and split parallelogram inlays The resilience of rosewood makes the fingerboard extremely balanced and stable, and gives each chord and note unparalleled clarity and bite. The Gibson Hummingbird Pro guitar's split parallelogram inlays are made of genuine mother of pearl, and are inserted into the fingerboard using a process that eliminates gaps and doesn't require the use of fillers. The fingerboard also sports traditional binding over the fret ends, which was a staple feature of many classic Gibson acoustic guitars for many years.Bracing Every acoustic electric guitar made by Gibson features hand-scalloped, radiused top bracing inside the body, a feature normally found only in limited run, handmade guitars. By scalloping each brace by hand, the natural sound of the acoustic guitar is focused more toward the center of the body, enhancing the guitar's sound projection. Gibson Acoustic's Hummingbird Pro guitar sports a single "X" bracing pattern similar to the design inside vintage Gibson J-30s. This traditional pattern delivers a balanced midrange tone, with unbiased lows and rich, clear highs, producing a warm tone that has been a favorite among artists and players alike since the original Gibson Hummingbird guitars introduced in 1960.L.R. Baggs Element ES acoustic pickup system Gibson Acoustic's Hummingbird Pro comes equipped with the Element ES Active acoustic pickup system from L.R. Baggs, which features a low-profile undersaddle element—or transducer—that's proven more stable and durable than many standard ribbon-type pickups. Combined with an onboard preamp with an unobtrusive and volume control mounted just inside the soundhole, the Element ES delivers performance not previously attainable from an undersaddle pickup. Its sleek and effective design removes unnecessary internal components to enhance the coupling between the pickup and the guitar, and improve

$2399

The Taylor Serj Tankian T5 Signature Model Acoustic-Electric guitar boasts a sapele body, a maple top, and a black-stained a gloss finish. Custom features include red purfling that outlines the body, fretboard, and headstock; unbound f-holes; and a red energy wheel inlay for the fretboard and headstock based on a design provided by Serj. Taylor equips the Serj Tankian guitar with standard T5 electronics. Each signature Taylor Tankian guitar includes a certificate of authenticity signed by the System Of A Down frontman himself. The Hybrid Body Three-plus decades of acoustic guitar expertise informs the way Taylor shapes the hollow body hybrid T5. You can hear the tonal character before you even plug it in. Taylor T5 guitars boast a fully hollow body and an active soundboard with a compound radius. The top is a flat piece of wood braced into an arch to capture acoustic resonance. The f-holes in the top are specially designed and voiced to further enhance the resonance of the body chamber, and to allow the top to breathe in relation to a guitar player's dynamic attack. But despite the f-holes and the slight arch in the top, the Serj Tankian T5 is not an archtop guitar. Its acoustic tone is more akin to a flattop sound, as opposed to a carved top instrument like a violin, viola, archtop guitar, or mandolin.Neck Taylor wrote the book on straight, easy-playing guitar necks. The innovative T-Lock neck joint brings Taylor's trademark consistency and comfort into electric guitar players' hands. The T-Lock employs a neck joint and a precisely milled pocket spacer to dial-in the perfect neck angle. As the neck bolt is tightened into place, it pulls the neck both down and back toward the bridge for perfect alignment and stability. It's simple to put on or take off to switch out spacers for angle adjustment. And once in place, the fit is perfect, with no side movement.Pickups Inspired by Taylor's Expression System pickup for acoustic guitars, the STSM-T5 guitar's pickup is yet another Taylor breakthrough. Thanks to its humbucking pickups and proprietary body sensor, the STSM-T5 acoustic-electric guitar produces a versatile range of pure analog tones from strumming acoustic to crunchy electric and everything in between. A hidden neck humbucker, a visible bridge humbucker, and a body sensor mounted to the inside surface of the top take advantage of the latest technology, utilizing samarium cobalt magnets and humbucking coils. The body sensor reads the movement of the top, adding even more warmth to your acoustic tone.Controls The T5 electronics were inspired by the revolutionary Taylor Expression System®, and then were custom designed to bring out the best electric and acoustic tones from the guitar. In addition to the 5-way switch, two active preamp/EQ tone controls and a volume control — incorporating the same soft-touch rollers as those used on the ES — allow for a wide range of additional tone-shaping within each swit

Gibson Custom ES-330L Electric Guitar Antique Red

Gibson Custom ES-330L Electric Guitar Antique Red

$2499

The Gibson Custom ES-330L is a hollowbody electric guitar with stunning acoustic character that provides performers and songwriters with a very inspiring musical tool. The artisans at the Gibson Custom Shop have created an ES-330 guitar that is not a reissue, yet it has all the highly-desirable attributes of the original 1959 ES-330, such as period-correct 17° angled headstock, and black plastic pickup covers. Added to those are superior enhancements including premium tulip button tuners and a vintage period-correct 1-11/16" nut made from Corian that provides superior strength, durability, and musical sustain.Introduced in 1959, the Gibson ES-330 was a revolution in the field of hollowbody electric guitars with its unique laminate top and back, top bracing, neck block, and tenon. The ES-330L has the same great pairing of features—dog-ear P90 pickups and hollowbody construction—as the Epiphone Casino guitars used by The Beatles to provide punch on recordings such as "Taxman" and "Paperback Writer," and most of the electric guitar tracks on Sgt. Pepper. Full hollowbody The Gibson ES-330L incorporates the finest features including single-ply binding on the neck, small pearloid block inlays, long tenon neck joint, and nickel hardware. The ES-330L body is truly hollow and has no center block, making it a lightweight, comfortable, and uniquely resonant guitar. Without a maple center block the ES-330L is free to vibrate acoustically and the weight reduction is substantial. The Gibson ES-330L guitar features the preferred one-piece mahogany neck for supreme resonance that has inspired both players and songwriters.P-90 tone ES hollowbody signature tone is maintained, regardless of volume control setting, through the special control wiring scheme known today as the Memphis Tone Circuit. It allows a wide array of tonal variations from what many consider to be the best pickup ever designed—the P-90. The ES-330L guitar features P-90 pickups in both the bridge and neck positions with independent volume and tone controls for each pickup. A 3-way pickup selector switch allows you to choose either pickup independently or both pickups combined. Musical feedback More acoustic in nature than most electric guitars, the ES-330L provides a balanced voice with more power than other hollowbody guitars. The sum and difference of the top and back (not to mention rims) create a vibratory explosion of acoustical energy with an awesome midrange that exhibits a sweet spot at every fret. This results in its ability to produce musical feedback. The ES-330L starts feeding back at a lower volume threshold and delivers a wider dynamic range of musical feedback. Controlled feedback is musical and adds to the player's creative arsenal. With the ES-330L guitar, players need only pivot their stance a bit to get in the zone. Infinite sustain is yours at just the turn of your torso with overtones, undertones, howls, and shrieks at your b
